TheÂ researchÂ aboutÂ catechinÂ purificationÂ fromÂ gambierÂ wasÂ purposedÂ toÂ findÂ itsÂ solubilityÂ propertiesÂ inÂ variousÂ solventÂ suchÂ asÂ inÂ coldÂ water,Â hotÂ water,Â hexane,Â ethylÂ acetate,Â andÂ methanol.Â ByÂ knowingÂ itsÂ solubilityÂ properties,Â theÂ easiestÂ wayÂ toÂ purifyÂ theÂ catechinÂ couldÂ beÂ gottenÂ whichÂ isÂ yieldingÂ aboutÂ 7.33%.Â Further,Â theÂ molecularÂ structureÂ hasÂ beenÂ gottenÂ byÂ determiningÂ itsÂ meltingÂ pointÂ andÂ usingÂ spectrophotometricÂ measurementsÂ suchÂ asÂ UV,Â IR,Â 1HÂ NMR,Â 13CÂ NMR.Â BasedÂ onÂ thoseÂ measurements,Â d-cathecinÂ structureÂ withÂ aÂ meltingÂ pointÂ ofÂ 175Â -Â 177Â ÂºCÂ wasÂ founded.Â TheÂ expectedÂ benefitÂ fromÂ thisÂ researchÂ isÂ itÂ couldÂ beÂ benefitingÂ theÂ developmentÂ ofÂ gambierÂ purificationÂ industryÂ inÂ orderÂ toÂ enhancingÂ addedÂ valueÂ ofÂ WestÂ Sumateraâ€™sÂ commodities.Â ItÂ wouldÂ makeÂ WesternÂ SumateraÂ gainingÂ strongerÂ bargainingÂ positionÂ dueÂ toÂ theÂ capabilityÂ onÂ sellingÂ notÂ onlyÂ onÂ theÂ crudeÂ formÂ toÂ abroad.Â TheÂ resultÂ ofÂ thisÂ researchÂ hasÂ indicatedÂ thatÂ catechinÂ purificationÂ canÂ beÂ performedÂ usingÂ anÂ organicÂ solventÂ andÂ water.Â
